Hockey Tournament Time

its time for the high school boys hockey tournament. For those who dont live here, its something I find special about MN.

Its the time of year that winter really sucks. This winter especially has been cold and long. Every couple days we've been hearing, "This should be the last cold span for the season." One week later, its fucking freezing again.

We usually get a big storm this time of year. One last whippin'. But since its the Hockey Tournament, it usually feels like you coming into spring.

I dont recall any particular state-wide sport championship in Illinios. The hockey tournament is broadcasted on tv every night. The kids play at the Excel Center-on the same ice the pros play on. Its a special statewide event. Schools up north shut down and send the kids south to the big city to cheer on their hockey heroes.

I like that MN celebrates hockey in that way. I like that its hockey-a sport i cannot play. I like that its high school kids.

but I hate this winter.
