Hudson

Hudson

I arrived in Hudson just after passing a rain storm in eastern Saint Paul. Real cross weather after months of dryness felt weird. I had thoughts like, “I should like this rain-stuff, but I cant really rally.”

Anyways, the very muddy, technical course proved troublesome for me. I don’t have a lot of nasty-condition-experience, so I hung on for dear life in the first couple laps. I tried hanging with wonder-boy, Jordan, but that kid can fly thru the sand and was outta my sights sooner than I expected.

At the end of the second lap, my chain fell off and I struggled to get it back in. Game over. I lost too many places and mostly a hard-core mindset. I just cruised thru the final couple laps.

Interestingly enough, that as once I lost my concentration, I lost my mud skills. I ended up in the rocks. I ended up in the trees. I grabbed the wrong tube on my frame over a barrier set. I got really stupid. Like my brain shut down.

Anyways. Its bike cleaning and repair days now. Rain seems to want to stay with us thru Wednesday. I need new brake pads, a new headset. A stronger head.

On to the next weekend….
