ah yes.. the smell of the lilacs, the chirp of the birds, the sweet-sweet sunshine...
Last night I found my legs at the Opus Crit and now, all is right with the world. Appr. 3 weeks late, my legs were returned to me when I signed up for the race (they had my name on them). Once installed, the legs were ready to throw down.
heres how it happened:
-Field rolls around at the normal "first-lap" pace and as we head up the hill, I turn my legs on (frisky-style) and beat everyone for the ninja prime. That got all the Cat6 dudes whooping it up. Usually I have only one of those in the cannons, and that would have been good enough for me, but after some recovery time following Taylor's wheel, I was ready to hang.
I'm still fighting some major head games; I feel I'm due for a doozy of a fall soon, so I battled that more than I did other racers until the 3rd prime (9th lap)... again, as we headed up the hill, I noticed a "lull" in the pack's energy and hit it hard (frisky-style) to get what I thought was first place.
What I didnt notice was the small group that got away and took all the prime points anyways (ahh..shit).
I didnt have much left for the final sprint so I rolled in with the crew; maybe next week, I'll play it different.
But after riding with my legs, and not those borrowed ones, things felt like they were falling in place; cute little bunnies on the ride home with Paula, Gab, Alex, & Karl, a cute little black cat that almost took me out (cutie, littl' cutie, littl' black kitty-cat).
Plus I got in, all-in-all about 60 miles of riding for the day.
